We’ll start by deepening your understanding of how depression works in your life. In many cases, depression can have a positive and protective nature. Yes, you heard that right: depression can be an ally, protecting you from overwhelming pain or trauma.

When your mind and body are faced with experiences or emotions that are too intense to process, depression can step in as a coping mechanism. It dulls your emotional responses, providing a buffer against feelings that might otherwise be too painful or overwhelming to endure. It’s your mind’s way of saying, “I need to slow down and protect myself.”

Understanding this protective role can help you see depression as a signal that deeper issues need to be addressed – rather than an “enemy” to be defeated.

Once we shift your relationship with depression, we’ll go to its roots and heal the pain triggering it.
