Imagine this…
You’re at a dinner party where everyone is laughing, savoring delicious food, and enjoying lively conversation.
But there you are, overwhelmed with anxiety and self-loathing, feeling like a prisoner to your plate. You eat too little or too much. Or you eat the wrong thing – you know… because you haven’t “earned” it.
These daily battles are only a part of your ongoing war with food.
It’s a war with your body, too.
You can’t stand the way your body looks. Maybe it’s your thighs, your stomach, or your butt.
It’s a constant obsession: “If I could only change my body, I would feel worthy and okay.”
But it’s never enough. There’s always something not right about your body…
And every bite feels like it adds to the weight you’re already ashamed of.
It’s not like you haven’t tried!
Ugh… it’s so hard. When you go to lose weight, your whole world is ruled by numbers: calories, macros, scales, and workouts.
You may have lost some weight but just couldn’t keep it off. Staying fit and healthy has been a constant challenge.
Diets work for a bit, but they don’t seem to be a sustainable solution.
Therapy hasn’t helped as much as you’d hoped.
One thing is for sure, though…
You’re tired of always limiting yourself, forcing yourself to eat less, and trying to get back on track, only to find yourself losing control around food again.
It’s time to stop this fight with food and your body!
To transform this battleground into a haven, you need to go deeper and understand the root causes affecting your relationship with food.
Here’s the truth: Food is not the problem; food is a solution to the problem.
Right now, something painful – often unconscious – is within you, and you’re using food to calm it down. This underlying pain is unhealed trauma, which has a way of speaking through your relationship with food and your body.
This trauma is buried beneath layers of shame and denial, so it’s tricky to address.
Let me be your ally.
Together, we’ll dive into the roots of your struggles so you can enjoy a peaceful relationship with food and your body. Our work will focus on four foundational areas:
Reconnecting with your body…
Weight loss and body image challenges often involve a disconnection between mind and body. Our work centers on rebuilding this vital connection, helping you sync with your body’s cues and attend to its needs without judgment.
Understanding your “overeating” and “shaming” parts…
It’s not the adult in you that keeps eating (because you know you shouldn’t). It’s a younger part of you that’s learned to use food to meet a specific need. Similarly, although it’s hard to believe, the part of you that shames yourself is also doing so to meet a need, even if you’re not consciously aware of it.
Together, we’ll get to know and heal these parts of you. We’ll assign them a different job so you can let go of overeating and shaming yourself. The key is understanding why these parts behave as they do, which is usually to protect you from deeper pain.
Healing the origin of that pain…
When you turn to food for comfort, it’s often because a part of you is hurting – a part that’s been carrying the burden of past wounds, unmet needs, and suppressed emotions. In a gentle, loving, compassionate way, I’ll help you heal the pain driving all of this, gradually releasing the trauma stored in your body and mind. This is the most powerful and important part of our work.
